Infiltration/Inflow Study

Updated 05/11/19:  A study of the wastewater collection system is underway to determine areas affected by infiltration and inflow of stormwater and/or groundwater.  The resultant information will enable the Authority to plan for corrective measures that will reduce extraneous water flows entering the wastewater system.  Reducing extraneous flows would result in corresponding reductions in operational costs for the Authority, particularly with respect to payment to the Gloucester County Utilities Authority for wastewater treatment.

The study includes field inspections of all sanitary sewer manholes to identify potential inflow sources within the manholes.  Many such sources have already been sealed, thereby reducing the volume of water entering the sewer systems.
